181 Women Helpline Case – Domestic Violence

A case was registered by an aggrieved woman named Geeta who informed 181 Women Helpline that her husband had evicted her out of the house keeping their two children back with him. She also confirmed the reason behind her husband’s action to be the fact that he was having an affair with a girl from the Muslim community. Geeta also told us that the husband had filed a case of divorce at the Faridabad court and she was living with her brother at Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. Hence travelling for the court hearings to Faridabad was quite a hectic as well as expensive affair for her. 181 Women Helpline provided the contact number of the advocate at the Nirbhaya Cell in Nainital and was advised to contact her with regard to the case.

In between the caller was also provided the contact details of District Legal Services Authority (Nainital) and was advised to contact them also regarding the case. 181 WHL also did a regular follow up of the case and recorded updates. In the follow up by 181 WHL (dated 27/06/17); it was informed by the caller that her case had been closed at Faridabad court and they would file the case at Nainital court with regard to the case so the caller requested to close the case at 181 WHL. Hence on behest of the caller; 181 WHL closed the case.
